GN: Especially for this month, it being the month of love and chocolate ๐
Arkano18: Thank you very much, I have to say I’m really honored!
GN: Any message for your legion of fans who voted for you?
Arkano18: I really want to thank all of GN members who voted for me, it feels really good to be the visible face of this great forum ๐
GN: And what a face it is ๐
GN: So what do you go by “IRL” ?
Arkano18: IRL? (sorry, my english is ok, but not THAT good) haha
GN: In Real Life, haha. Nerdspeak. You know me, I try to be hip with the cool kids and stuff
Arkano18: Absolutely, I should get to this nerd jargon ASAP.
GN: Stick around the forums and I’m sure you’ll pick up tons, haha. Anyway back to the question, what’s your name?
Juan: My name is Juan Irrazabal, I’m almost 30 and I’m from Chile
GN: That’s so 90’s chatroom A/S/L. (Age/Sex/Location)
Juan: That felt like from a beauty pageant ๐
GN: Nah, I’m sure your stalkers appreciate all the delicious information ๐
Juan: Hehe, keeping the masses happy it’s one of my hidden techniques ๐
GN: Anyway, you’ve mentioned that your English isn’t good right? But I honestly wouldn’t have known you weren’t a native English speaker if you didn’t mention it. Your English is great. Did you take classes in Chile or something?
Juan: Thank you very much! I’m taking classes now to become an english teacher -which I hope to finish in a couple of years-, but most of my English comes from highschool and being the only weirdo that listened to music in a different language
GN: Haha, what sort of music did you listen to?
Juan: When I was a teenager there were tons of different styles I like, pretty much because here in Chile during the 90’s there was just 2 types of radio stations: the ones with music in spanish, and the one with music in english. I remember having a very grungy period though, between 13 to 17, when Kurt Cobain and Scott Weiland were my personal gods. I wanted to be like them, and most important, I wanted to be cool like them
GN: Haha, Grunge Juan. Is this the whole reason you studied Music?
Juan: It certainly opened a door.
Juan: I remember loving music since I can remember. But back at home was something just natural. My mom’s dedicated to artisany, and she’s a really good dancer; on the other hand my dad enjoy listening to music, and on his spare time he usually is listening to some rock classics. They bought me a guitar for christmas when i was 10, and since then i started thinking about music as my career
GN: That’s adorable haha
Juan: Thank you!
GN: And you teach music so it all worked out haha
Juan: Totally. I was a bit scared though while studying (back in the early 2000s)
Juan: I’m lucky i have this one job where i can teach music. it doesn’t pay much, but it makes me really happy
GN: Living the dream eh? Not many people can say they love their jobs, haha. So what do you do with your spare time?
Juan: I love hanging out with friends and party, but my favorite activity is cooking
Juan: I love cooking, and I’m pretty good at it I truly believe that cooking for others it’s a beautiful way to express love and caring.
GN: So a culinary geek, eh? What’s your specialty?
Juan: well, i love also latinamerican food, especially peruvian and chilean; they’res o full of flavor, spices and textures! My specialty it’s breads. I enjoy bread so much, that I’ve gained a few -lots- pounds just by eating it everyday
GN: You don’t show it, haha. Man, you’re like the perfect house husband. You can make music to entertain and then make sandwiches with fresh bread
Juan: I’m trying to improve the presentation part in order to upload some pics of it; we actually have great cooks in GN ๐
GN: True enough. You should never wander into the “Stuff You Made” section on an empty stomach
GN: What does your screen name mean by the way?
Juan: My screen name comes actually from a world sometimes is way apart from nerdery
GN: What do you mean?
Juan: When i was a kid, there were several shows that included someone reading the tarot cards, and I thought “Whoa, that’s cool.” So every now and then I used to pick information from magazines, or books regarding esoteric stuff: zodiac signs, astral charts, tarot, runes, etc.
Juan: I grew up thinking all esoteric “sciences” were incredibly cool, and that I should learn the most about it. That’s how I got to read a lot of books related to Tarot reading, and I learned that the cards themselves are called “arcanes”, mysteries. The whole tarot deck is actually a journey in a man’s life, so each card represents a mysterie, a circumstance that men should learn about
Juan: So, long story short, the 18th card, The Moon, is the card that is attached to my birth date, and ever since I’ve used it as my nickname ๐
GN: That’s pretty cool!
GN: RaNdOm QuEsTiOn TiEm!
Juan: YAY! Let The Randomness Begin!
GN: So, let’s start easy. Your idea of a perfect date?
Juan: A nice walk through a park
Juan: If the day looks good, maybe a nice picnic
GN: Which scenario would you choose: You get to be Tom Hardy’s boyfriend but every time you would get next to him, you would go blind OR when you date someone, you would be able to see him as Tom Hardy in your head when you wanted to but you would lose your left hand?
Juan: Ahahaha, I go blind. Because, if you’re blind, you’ll have to rely on your other senses, especially touch
Juan: So, you can touch your way up to Tom Hardy ๐
Juan: That might be absolutely interesting
GN: Haha, well, thanks for the interview Juan!
Juan: you’re welcome, I had a great time!
GN: Congratulations again on being February’s Gay Nerd of the Month!
Juan: Thank you, you’re all incredible guys!
Check him out on the forums!
