Conservative Activist Speaks Out Against SW:TOR’s Same-Sex Romances

I think we’ve all come to expect a certain level of insanity when it comes to activist groups with the word “family” in them, and the Family Research Council is no different. Tony Perkins, president of the FRC, recently spoke out against Bioware’s planned inclusion of same-sex romance in their Star Wars MMO. Here’s a snippet of his statement:

“Since the announcement, homosexuals have been celebrating the news, but parents sure aren’t. On the game’s website, there are more than 300 pages of comments–a lot of them expressing anger that their kids will be exposed to this Star Warped way of thinking. You can join them by logging on and speaking up. It’s time to show companies who the Force is really with!”

SPACE palm... GET IT?

It’s strange, really, how a “family” activist group is concentrating on the future inclusion of same-sex romances when players can currently role-play as genuinely abhorrent characters. Do you  have any idea what those Sith do!? They don’t solve problems with round-table discussions. The inclusion of same-sex romance in SW:TOR is obviously not new territory for Bioware, so this just seems like a case of the uninformed leading the equally uninformed. Complaining to a company about their planned inclusion of gay relationships, when said company has been releasing several games that have included same-sex options for many years now, is laughable. Bioware has made their stance clear.

All that being said… how many “family” groups do you think will start freaking out again once Mass Effect 3 releases?…
