Are They Or Aren't They?: Zangief

RED CYCLONE!
Look at this big guy!   Just look at him!  For those that don’t know, this is Zangief.  His interests are Mother Russia, Mohawks, and Wrestling Bears.  Speaking of “bears,” he seems to match that profile, does he not?  Zangief has been a Street Fighter mainstay since the classic Street Fighter II.  Being such a strong character, Zangief never backs down from a fight.  Even going all out against female characters such as Chun Li or Cammy.  Does that make him a misogynist?  Or could he possibly be hiding something else?

Are They Or Aren’t They?: Jane Lane

The recent DVD release of Daria: The Complete Animated Series has been a godsend to fans of MTV’s original snarky teen. It’s been eight years since the series ended, but the characters and storylines remain relatable. The backbone of the series has always been the relationship between Daria and her BFF (although she’d never call her that) Jane Lane.  After meeting in a self-esteem class, the two quickly become friends and, despite a few rough patches, maintain a close relationship throughout the series. How close of a relationship the two shared was a cause of much speculation during the show’s original run.  Today we examine one half of the Daria/Jane duo and ask the question: Is Jane queer?

Are They Or Aren’t They?: Link

Link! You come to town! Come to save...the princess Zelda!

Almost anyone that has touched a video game system is familiar with The Legend of Zelda series and Link, its silent protagonist.  Using Nintendo’s “If it ain’t broke” formula, each game has small to drastic gameplay differences, with only slight tweaks to the storyline.  Link’s heritage or birthplace may change, but his dedication to heroism (brief kleptomania with townspeople’s rupees aside) has stayed consistent.  However, with that foppish hat and tight little booties, the question gets asked:  Could Link be gay?

Are They or Aren’t They?: Daken

This week’s installment of “Are they or Aren’t They?” will be focused on a character in the Marvel Universe. The second this feature started, I knew I wanted to do him (hur dur), so there’s no time like the present. While there are many explicitly gay characters like Wiccan, Hulking, Northstar, and Karma, the one getting the spotlight here is Wolverine’s ambiguously gay son, Akihiro, who goes by the name Daken and was the Dark Wolverine during the past year’s mega storylines/events Dark Reign and Siege.

Are They or Aren’t They?:Glee

I’ve wanted to do one of these for a while now and with the Glee season finale out (it was awesome btw), the setting is ripe for some hardcore fanfi… introspection and analysis. No, I’m not going to discuss if Kurt is gay. Trying to guess is like trying to decipher whether the sky is blue, the grass is green or that Sonic hasn’t made a good game since the 90’s. It’s bleedingly obvious and hammered into our heads and it’s been talked about too much.  He’s this show’s token gay character and poster boy for all things gay related in the show. Enough about him…
Pouty Kurt
Someday, you bitches will talk about me
