It’s been a long, excruciating wait for those of us that have been begging ArenaNet for any news regarding the open beta for Guild Wars 2. Finally, in celebration of the Year of the Dragon, ArenaNet has announced that “select press” will be invited into a beta this February. An open beta test will follow in March and April which will lead into the release of the game later this year. Could Guild Wars 2 be released in April? Guild Wars: Prophecies was released in April of 2005, so it would certainly be a magnificent way to celebrate the series’ 7th anniversary…
So this year, the Year of the Dragon, let’s usher out old thinking – the tired old quest model, stiff repetitive combat, and monthly fees – and usher in the new.
I absolutely cannot contain my excitement about this. If any of you are casual MMO fans, jaded former-MMO-players, or intimidated by the scale of MMOs… do yourself a favor and look into Guild Wars 2.
In the meantime… I need to come up with a name for my Sylvari Mesmer…
